Needless to say, we learned a lot, and we knew we had to share it with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Traffic is still a worry, but there\u2019s good news<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, many bloggers are still worried about organic traffic. Yet another Google update hit in January, and it hit hard \u2013 Toti from <a href=\"https:\/\/passportandstamps.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Passport and Stamps<\/a> said it was so discouraging that he took a six-month pause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The good news is that now there are actionable solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The advice used to be, \u201cJust keep writing good content and hope for the best.\u201d But there really are things you can do today to reduce the impact of Google updates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Develop a newsletter. <\/strong><br>Readers who subscribe (in exchange for a free guide, an exclusive map, etc.) will always be just an email away, so you won\u2019t have to worry so much about the algorithm.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Get more from the traffic you already have<\/strong>. <br>This is one of the big ideas behind our AI system <a href=\"https:\/\/special.travelpayouts.com\/tools\/drive\/\">Drive<\/a>, which improves your monetization while automating it. Don\u2019t be shy \u2013 tell readers to click that link and check out your blog.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>With those in mind:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Create a curiosity gap<\/strong>. <br>In your social posts, reveal enough to attract attention, but withhold other information \u2013 readers will have to open the blog post to find it. For example, share a beautiful pic and comment on it, but don\u2019t name the city.&nbsp;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t overshare on socials while you\u2019re traveling<\/strong>. <br>Otherwise, your blog post will feel like something readers have seen a hundred times.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cross-promote<\/strong>. <br>Julia tries to publish one blog post a week, promoting it with some combination of static Instagram posts, reels, stories, Facebook posts, and TikTok content. She finds stories especially useful: links she shares there get hundreds of clicks.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Use broadcast channels<\/strong>. <br>These let you communicate with your audience right in their DMs. Instagram and Facebook both offer broadcast channels, though Julia thinks Facebook isn\u2019t for everyone; she said if you\u2019re having trouble building engagement there, maybe you should focus on other platforms.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>In videos, say your CTA out loud<\/strong>. <br>Putting a link in the description might not be enough. Actually SAY \u201cvisit my site\u201d in each clip.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Simple but smart, as was Julia\u2019s final reminder: even if you apply all these tips, be patient and consistent.
