About Infinite Flight
Infinite Flight is a mobile flight simulator that allows aviation fans to fly their favorite routes in the comfort of their own home. Created in 2011, Infinite Flight evolved over a decade to become a leading flight simulator and air controller experience that is now available as a free app for iOS and Android devices. Today, the simulator allows users to take off from any major airport worldwide and enjoy the flight experience right on their phone with real-time winds and atmospheric conditions. Infinite Flight is not only entertaining, it is also great for learning and practice.
To get started, users simply need to download the app from the App Store or Play Store and make sure they have a strong internet connection. Infinite Flight will use the smartphone’s gyroscope and accelerometer to mimic yoke or stick action, etc. All the user has to do is to rotate or tilt their phone or tablet for roll and pitch actions. The rest can be configured with the on-screen 2D button interface.
To facilitate the learning process, Infinite Flight shares tons of materials:
- YouTube Tutorials with pilot and ATC trainings.
- Official User Guide shares all that a user needs to know in order to master the app. Aspiring pilots will find it useful to check out the Infinite Flight Flying Guide.
- Infinite Flight Community Forum is the place to chat with other aviation lovers or hone your piloting skills with support categories.
But that’s not all. To upgrade the experience, users can subscribe to Infinite Flight Pro. This premium plan unlocks all in-app purchases and provides access to over 30,000 airports around the world, dozens of aircraft, almost 1,000 livery options, a global navigation database, 3D airport buildings and objects, live weather conditions, all community events, and more.
About Infinite Flight API
Infinite Flight also provides an API that allows users to access information about flights. The Connect API aims to allow developers to send commands to control aircraft systems or the simulator and retrieve data about aircraft state, ATC instructions, and more. This API is highly responsive and can serve various purposes, including real-time flight control and creating applications that quickly respond to any flight state changes.
The Connect API has two versions: v1 and v2. The first version uses JSON objects as strings, while Connect API v2 uses a variety of formats and features additional functionality.
Instead of a traditional HTTP-based REST API, Infinite Flight provides a TCP socket API, which allows two devices to directly communicate at the network level. This maximises the data that can be sent between the customer and Infinite Flight in the shortest possible period of time. In short, the API receives commands and returns data as a series of bytes, which are decoded by the customer’s device. Thus, it only takes a short time.
How to Get Access
No API key is required to use the Connect API. To begin, you need to enable the API in the Infinite Flight app by following the below steps:
- Open the app
- Go to the Settings and click on “General”
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and check the box labelled “Enable Infinite Flight Connect”
